Experimental investigation of single phase liquid nitrogen flow in mini-tubes used for cryoprobes.

Author(s) : ZHANG P., QI S. L., WANG R. Z., et al.

Summary

The flow characteristic of liquid nitrogen in mini-tube is very crucial for the design of cryoprobe. In the present study, the pressure drop measurement of single phase liquid nitrogen flowing in mini-tubes of 250.0 mm in length and 0.5-3.0 mm in nominal diameter is measured. It is found that the Reynolds number can reach up to around 10 000, and the friction factors can be well correlated by the Colebrook correlation within the relative error of about 20%.
