Noise and efficiency improvement of light commercial compressor using propane refrigerant.

Number: pap. n. 156

Author(s) : SEDLIAK J.

Summary

Environment friendly cabinets can be considered not only by using of green refrigerants but also by their energy consumption and noise emissions to the surroundings. Propane as natural gas is a very good alternative to R404A in commercial applications. Propane offers primary environmental benefits comparing with R404A by low GWP but also benefits in efficiency improvement and noise reduction opportunities. The paper concerns about the experimental study of the impact of discharge valve design in the performance of R290 compressors which originally have been designed for R404A operation. The paper shows the solution for noise reduction in low back pressure propane commercial compressor by modification of valve system that results in almost 4 dB of total noise reduction comparing with R404A equivalent capacity model keeping high level of efficiency.
