THE CONCEPT OF A SEPARATE WATER COOLED ABSORBER FOR INTERMITTENT SOLAR REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS IS PROPOSED. THE WORKABILITY OF THE CONCEPT HAS BEEN ASCERTAINED THEORETICALLY AND A DESIGN PROCEDURE IS NOW OUTLINED. EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF THE CONCEPT HAS BEEN OBTAINED AND IT IS SEEN THAT AN APPRECIABLE IMPROVEMENT IN THE PERFORMANCE IS ACHIEVED.
