80 K miniature pulse tube refrigerator performance.

Author(s) : DAVID M., MARECHAL J. C.

Summary

Air Liquide, in collaboration with Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, has previously developped the theory of an ideal orifice pulse tube refrigerator, later extended to a complete double inlet pulse tube. One of the first applications of this theory was the conception of a 80 K miniature pulse tube refrigerator devoted to high critical temperature superconductors and infrared detectors. A 48 K limit temperature with 1 watt available power at 82 K were achieved. The 2 cm3 swept volume oscillator is a standard one developped for Stirling machines.
