Summary

When mouse zygotes and embryos were frozen slowly in solutions of PVP, none survived regardless of whether they were warmed slowly or rapidly. However, when they were frozen slowly or rapidly in mixtures of PVP plus ethylene glycol, up to 95% of them survived, the actual percentage being dependent on the ethylene glycol concentration, the warming rate and the dilution method.
