Summary

A BATH TYPE METAL CRYOSTAT FOR THE STUDY OF ELECTRON TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF THIN FILMS HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND FABRICATED. THE DIAMETER OF THE OUTER JACKET IS 5 CM SO THAT THE CRYOSTAT CAN BE INTRODUCED BETWEEN THE POLE PIECES OF AN ELECTROMAGNET. THE OUTER JACKET CONTAINS A TRANSPARENT WINDOW THROUGH WHICH THE FILM UNDER STUDY CAN BE ILLUMINATED. THE CRYOSTAT HAS BEEN TESTED AND CHARACTERIZED BY MEASURING THE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY BETWEEN ABOUT 100 AND 400 K. THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CRYOSTAT IS DESCRIBED.
