Summary
MULTIPURPOSE CARBON THIN FILM RESISTANCE THERMOMETERS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED FOR CRYOGENIC USE. THE THERMOMETERS WERE COATED WITH THIN GLASS LAYERS. THE DESIRED ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE OF THE SENSORS WAS OBTAINED WITH A FINAL TREATMENT. THESE SENSORS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AS SEPARATE DEVICES TO BE SOLDERED OR GLUED ONTO METALLIC COMPONENTS OF TEST UNITS. NEVERTHELESS THEIR RESPONSE IS FAST ; AT 4.2 K THEIR THERMAL RELAXATION TIME IS BETTER THAN 1 MILLISECOND AND THEIR THERM-AL DELAY TIME IS OF THE ORDER OF 70 MICROSECONDS.
