A development of spherical-shaped magnetocaloric materials using power coating method.

Author(s) : HIRANO S., KAWANAMI T., NAKAMURA K., et al.

Summary

LaFeSi-type magnetocaloric materials (MCMs) have apprehensive possibilities for the improvement of a magnetic refrigeration system because of their specification that have higher Curie temperature and greater magnetocaloric effect. The aim of this study is to create spherical-shaped MCMs from LaFeSi-type material powder by coating method. The authors have produced three different types of coating particles as to investigate on experimentally the active magnetic regenerator (AMR) particle packing bed. However, the coating particles are required more strength and duration. Anyhow, for lighter and smaller refrigeration device, the effectiveness of the coating method for the LaFeSi-type material on the AMR system is confirmed.
