Summary

THE MODEL CONSIDERS THE EFFECTS OF (A) THE COIL GEOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS, (B) MOISTURE CONDENSATION ON THE EXTERNAL COIL SURFACE, AND (C) SUPERHEATED REFRIGERANT VAPOUR ON THE HEAT TRANSFER PERFORMANCE OF THE COIL. THE VALIDITY OF THE ANALYSIS HAS BEEN CHECKED BY TESTING AN EVAPORATOR COIL USED IN A HEAT PUMP SYSTEM OVER A WIDE RANGE OF OPERATING CONDITIONS. A CLOSE CORRELATION HAS BEEN FOUND TO EXIST BETWEEN THE THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS.
