Summary

In this study a new flow type, reverse-parallel(R-P) flow, was suggested, and its performance characteristics have been numerically compared with a modified reverse (MR) flow. For both MR and R-P flow cycles the maximum system pressure was found to be lower than 300kPa, which is important for the development of the products. The system COP was slightly higher in R-P flow (1.62) than the MR flow (1.61). Moreover, the costdown of the products is expected, because it requires only two conventional solution pumps compared with the MR flow cycle which requires one more high-temperature solution pump which might be quite expensive.
Therefore, the R-P flow is thought to be a very promising flow type for triple-effect absorption chillers.
