Summary

The refrigerant R-723 is made up of 60 mass% ammonia and 40 mass% dimethylether, and is environmentally friendly (zero ODP, insignificant GWP). R-723 is used in refrigeration systems as a working fluid in a similar way to R-717. The pressure is almost identical but R-723 has a number of interesting advantages over pure ammonia. With R-723 the discharge temperature can be reduced by approximately 20-25 K. The solubility for mineral oils is considerably improved and can be extended the area of very low temperatures.
