A new secondary fluid.

Author(s) : EVENMO K.

Summary

Hycool is a new secondary fluid based on an aqueous potassium formate (K-formate) solution. The paper presents K-formate as a secondary fluid when it comes to physical properties, environmental impact and material compatibility. In addition a case study is presented from a Sainsbury's supermarket opened March 1997. The physical properties of K-formate show its potential for becoming the most efficient secondary fluid. The viscosity is lower while volumetric heat capacity and thermal conductivity are in the same range as calcium chloride, K-acetate, ethylene glycol and propylene glycol.
