Accurate thermophysical property values of water solutions are important for ice slurry modeling and calculations.

Author(s) : MELINDER Å.

Summary

For ice slurry applications there seems to be a need for more detailed data than for common use, especially at low concentrations. Table 1 of the paper gives basic thermophysical property data, including specific heat values, for a few low concentrations of a number of these water solutions. The specific heat values can be of help to estimate enthalpy and apparent specific heat for the ice slurries. Table 2 gives selected property values of freezing point as well as density and viscosity at 20 °C from CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (1988-89) for a number of water solutions. The freezing point values can be used to estimate ice concentration as a function of the fluid temperature.
