A novel GAX heat exchanger for cooling applications.

Summary

The promise that the generator-absorber heat exchange (GAX) cycle shows in commercial heating and cooling applications is well known. The paper covers the construction of a computer model for GAX cycles that will aid in the development of GAX absorbers. From the model results, a concurrent bubble absorber was designed for the GAX section of the absorber. This absorber was designed with a load of 4.7 kilowatts which could correspond to a model predicted cycle COP of 0.74 and a capacity of 1.9 tons. This absorber varies from conventional GAX absorber designs in that it is built directly into the distillation column.
