Summary

The vapour exchange generator absorber heat exchange (VX GAX) cycle incorporates recuperation of absorption heat both to a high pressure generator and to an intermediate pressure generator. That double recuperation gives the cycle higher efficiency than any conventional absorption or mechanical vapour compression cycle. A conceptual design of this cycle was developed in sufficient detail to evaluate the cycle performance and economics. The economic analysis indicates that the VX GAX cycle will provide commercially viable industrial refrigeration operated by prime fuel or waste heat.
