A novel multi compartment, multi-temperature commercial refrigerator.
Author(s) : GIGIEL A., HAMMOND E., EVANS J.
Summary
A novel multi-drawer commercial refrigerator was developed that was capable of controlling the temperature in each drawer to between -20 and 15°C. Each drawer could also be used for short-term insulated transport of the contents and the system could rapidly cool or freeze products. The unit was designed around a novel multi-capillary single refrigeration system with a low-pressure receiver. Each drawer in the unit was over-fed by an individual capillary so that each evaporator operated fully flooded. The low-pressure receiver acted as an accumulator and liquid sub-cooler to ensure no liquid returned to the compressor. The refrigerator is currently in commercial production and use.
