Summary

BOVINE EMBRYOS FROZEN AND THAWED WITHIN PLASTIC ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION STRAWS CAN BE IMMEDIATELY DILUTED IN ONE-STEP OUT OF THE PROTECTIVE COMPOUND IN SITU WITHIN THE CONTAINER IN WHICH THEY WERE FROZEN. THIS DILUTION METHOD IS SIMPLE AND YIELDS AS HIGH SURVIVAL AS MORE COMMONLY USED MULTI-STEP DILUTIONS. BECAUSE THE EMBRYO IS SEALED IN THE STRAW, THE ENTIRE DILUTION AND RECOVERY PROCESS OF FROZEN EMBRYOS CAN BE PERFORMED WITHOUT A MICROSCOPE OR OTHER LABORATORY APPARATUS.
