Summary

A CRYOMICROSCOPE EQUIPPED WITH A VIDEO CAMERA, RECORDER AND MONITOR WAS USED FOR STUDYING THE CRYOPRESERVATION OF BOVINE EMBRYOS. THE TEMPERATURE AND COOLING AND WARMING RATE WERE CONTROLLED BY A COMPUTER. INTRA-AND EXTRACELLULAR ICE FORMATION, MELTING AND OSMOTIC BEHAVIOUR WERE ANALYZED IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE THE SURVIVAL RATE AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS FOR CRYOPRESERVATION PURPOSES.
