Summary
Ethylene removal is important for long term storage of fruits. Successful removal of ethylene from a 4-litre box was achieved using 2 grammes of perlite soaked in 1 M potassium-manganese oxide. Of the 4 compounds tested for SO2 production, the best was sodium bisulfite (2.5 grammes).
