Summary

Rigorous theoretical models for pool film boiling of both subcooled and saturated liquids along an isothermal vertical plate, taking into consideration all matching conditions including variable thermophysical properties, are established. The governing partial equations for the film boiling and their boundary conditions are conveniently transformed into corresponding dimensionless ordinary differential equations, and are solved by a successively iterative procedure at different wall and ambient temperatures for saturated/subcooled water.
