A thermodynamic parameter to choose secondary coolant fluid.

Author(s) : GRAZZINI G., FERRARO P.

Summary

The heat exchange coefficient of ice slurry is higher than that of the single-phase fluid. Conversely, the presence of ice crystals increases pressure losses and these losses grow with the concentration of ice. The authors defined two parameters relating entropy variations and heat transfer to compare the ice slurries to the single-phase solutions. The two parameters show that ice slurry is better than the liquid solution.
