Generation and utilization of liquid ice (binary ice).

Author(s) : PAUL J., MALTER L., MÜNSTER U.

Summary

The notorious drawback of indirect cooling systems is lack of efficiency and therefore higher operating costs. In order to overcome such deficiencies, liquid ice (so-called binary ice) can be utilized. For refrigeration capacities from 3 kW to the high MW-range a number of technologies for the production of binary ice is available. Such icemachines can be built in connection with conventional refrigeration systems as well as with "water as refrigerant". The paper gives an overview on practical experience from three typical applications.
