Summary

Despite the fact that the first experiment was carried out nearly thirty years ago, PLD remained little known until the late 1980s, but the successful growth of high critical temperature superconducting films in 1987 lifted it off the ground. PLD is now a powerful tool in the field of material research, not only for high-temperature superconducting thin films but also for the crystal engineering of oxides. Although most of the published work is dealing with the cuprates, significant results have also been reported on the growth of the other oxide of the cuprate family: infinite layer, LSCO, BSCCO, TBCCO and HBCCO.
