A series of new ammonia reciprocating refrigeration units coupled with a canned motor having no leakage from the shaft portion is presented. The refrigeration unit employing this compressor resulted in minimized refrigerant holding quantity and automization. The paper introduces distinguishing characteristics and specifications of an ammonia reciprocating refrigeration unit.
