Absorption cooling with combined heat and power.

Author(s) : TOZER R. M., JAMES R. W.

Summary

A review is presented on absorption refrigeration cycles and their integration into CHP systems. An overview of the cold generation cycles theory and its application to CHP is given; these are combinations of driving and cooling cycles for which the main purpose is to produce cooling. A review of thermoeconomics applied to an air conditioning system with absorption and CHP was shown to be an appropriate method for optimising systems by using the exergy method of costing. Finally, the influence of absorption chillers to improve CHP paybacks periods is provided and general conclusions are drawn.
