Absorption heat pump unit for retrofitting high-temperature hydronic systems.

Author(s) : BANGHERI A.

Summary

The Austrian heat pump and solar technology company Heliotherm Wärmepumpen- und Solartechnik has developed an absorption heat pump specially designed for the retrofitting of gas and oil boilers for single and multiple family homes. The absorption heat pump is driven by a gas or oil burner and offers a maximum heat supply temperature of 75 deg C and a capacity of 20 kilowatts in boiler mode. In heat pump operation (15 kilowatts heating capacity) it reaches a primary energy ratio of up to 1.43 and a maximum temperature of 50 deg C. A gas fired absorption heat pump with an adjustable gas burner from 6 to 20 kilowatts is the next step for research and development.
