Absorption heat pumps operating at very high temperatures (200-1000 deg C) for improving the efficiency of power stations.

Summary

The authors propose inserting the separator of an absorption heat pump between the combustion chamber (at 1,100 deg C) and the steam evaporator super-heater (at 450 deg C) of a power plant. This increases the enthalpy efficiency of the power plant by about 22% and therefore brings a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions for a given production of mechanical energy.
