ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION THERMODYNAMICS.

Author(s) : FELLI M.

Summary

A SURVEY IS MADE OF THE OPERATION OF AN ABSORPTION MACHINE, USING A SCHEME OFTEN DISCUSSED IN THE LITERATURE, WHERE DIFFERENCES AMONG AUTHORS ARE OBSERVED IN SKETCHING OF THE T,S CYCLE. PROCESSES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE REVERSIBLE, AND HEAT TO BE EXCHANGED AT CONSTANT TEMPERATURES. COP IS POINTED OUT NOT TO DEPEND ON OPERATING TEMPERATURES ONLY, BUT ON HEAT RATES ALSO, WITHOUT DISAGREEMENT WITH THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS. OTHER CONDITIONS OF MAXIMUM COP ARE FOUND WITH THE VARYING OF WORKING PARAMETERS. THE THEORETICAL CYCLE OF THE REFRIGERANT IS SHOWN TO HAVE DIFFERENT SHAPES IN A T,S DIAGRAM, SOME OF WHICH ARE COINCIDING WITH THE CYCLES PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED. THE REVERSIBLE OPERATION WITH REAL FLUID IS EXAMINED ; THE USE OF SATURATED SOLUTIONS IS SHOWN TO ADD FURTHER LIMITS ON TEMPERATURES. A CYCLE IS INTRODUCED THAT HAS THE SAME COP AS THE CONSTANT TEMPERATURE THEORETICAL CYCLE, IF A LOT OF HYPOTHESES COULD BE SATISFIED.
