ABSORPTION WORKING FLUID FOR AIR COOLED CHILLER.

Author(s) : IIZUKA H., TAKIGAWA T.

Summary

A NEW MIXTURE WAS DEVELOPED BY INCREASING THE TRADITIONAL CONC ENTRATION OF WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE WITH SALTS (LITHIUM CHLORIDE, LITHIUM IODIDE) AND ETHYLENE GLYCOL. THE RESULTS OF MEASUREMENTS OF THERMODYNAMIC AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF THIS MIXTURE WERE STUDIED, AS WELL AS THE POSSIBILITIES OF ITS APPLICATION TO AIR-COOLED SYSTEMS, IN COMPARISON WITH OTHER FLUIDS. A COP OF 1.42 WAS OBTAINED FOR A DOUBLE-EFFECT CYCLE, WHILE THE AIR-COOLED SYSTEM WAS OPERATING. THE PRACTICAL RESULTS HAVE SHOWN A COP OF 0.64 FOR REFRIGERATION WHEREAS THE THEORETICAL COP WAS 0.77. THE ADDITION OF LITHIUM HYDROXIDE, LITHIUM NITRATE AND LITHIUM TETRABORATE REDUCES THE CORROSIVE ACTION OF THE FLUID ON STEEL.
