Additive-induced enhancement of heat and mass transfer in a static absorber: a numerical study.

Summary

The paper describes a numerical model of absorption of a high heat-of-absorption vapour into a static horizontal liquid film containing small concentrations of a surfactant additive. The model accounts for the occurrence of Marangoni convection resulting from interfacial surface tension gradients. In addition to the influence of the Marangoni numbers, the importance of transport properties of the absorbent and the additive is considered.
