Type of article: Article

Summary

Describes an investigation of an adsorption heat pump using hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants. A small-scale test rig was used to study the performance of several combinations of refrigerant and activated carbon which might be used in an adsorption heat pump. Presents experimental results together with conclusions and suggestions for further work. Notes that it is obvious that R407A, 407B and other HFC blends such as R407C should be considered further for use as refrigerants in conjunction with AX-21 in adsorption heat pumps.
