Advanced desiccant wheel for open-cycle adsorption cooling.

Summary

With its high geometric surface and laminar flow design, the wheel is designed to provide rapid heat and mass transfer while maintaining a low pressure drop. It embodies a desiccant exhibiting a Type 1M water absorption isotherm, providing dynamic wavefront containment in both adsorption and desorption modes. The desiccant and wheel matrix materials are able to withstand high temperature regeneration conditions up to 200 deg C using a direct gas-fired burner. Aging results show the desiccant to be far superior to an early desiccant blend. The new wheel technology, in conjunction with innovative equipment design, results in significant cooling system package size reductions compared to those currently available.
