Summary

After a geographical description of Lebanon and its recent history, the country's three-zone climate is described. A review of air conditioning in Lebanon until 1975 is made and the evolution of apparatus used until then is given in detail. Nowadays, after the 15-year civil war which ruined the country's economy and air-conditioning industry, centralised air-treatment equipment gave way to small direct expansion air-conditioning units. For the future, air-conditioning development is dependant on the building industry and economic expansion. J.L.
