Summary

RISING AIR CURRENTS WERE THE PRINCIPAL FORM OF CIRCULATION IN AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS AT LEAST UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF THIS CENTURY. UNTIL THE ADVENT OF POWERED FANS THERE WAS NO ALTERNATIVE TO RISING AIR, AND EVEN WHEN FANS CAME INTO USE THEY WERE DESIGNED TO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATURAL AIR FLOW. IT IS INTERESTING TO DISCOVER TO WHAT EXTENT SUCH SYSTEMS WERE CAPABLE OF A SELF-REGULATING VARIABLE AIR FLOW.
