Air conditioning with ammonia.
Author(s) : TOTH S. J.
Summary
The author briefly summarizes the conclusions of protocols on phasing out CFCs and lists the advantages of ammonia. Iced-water installations running on ammonia have long been used in the dairy industry. Compact units for producing iced water for air conditioning can be manufactured by confining most of the ammonia-containing equipment in a machine room. The special arrangements to be made are summarized. The efficiency ratings attained with ammonia, higher than with CFCs, are given, and one particular installation is described.
