Air source heat pumps for temperate and for Nordic climates.

Number: pap. ID: 702

Author(s) : PEARSON S. F., SMALL A. D.

Summary

Air source heat pumps are universally applicable. They have low cost of installation but their performance diminishes as ambient temperature decreases just when maximum performance would be desirable. Efficiency of operation also decreases as ambient temperature decreases. The following paper describes how these effects may be counter-acted under the varying atmospheric conditions experienced under Nordic and under temperate conditions. A novel form of defrosting is described. Predicted seasonal performance at several locations is presented.
