ALGEBRAIC MODELLING OF COMPONENTS AND COMPUTER SIMULATION OF REFRIGERATOR STEADY-STATE OPERATION.

Author(s) : ROGERS S., TREE D. R.

Summary

A HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATOR-FREEZER HAS BEEN MATHEMATICALLY MODELLED AND ALL SYSTEM EQUATIONS REDUCED TO ALGEBRAIC FORM. IN PARTICULAR, THE COMPRESSOR MODEL CAN BE USED TO EFFECTIVELY SIMULATE THE HEAT TRANSFER,PRESSURE DROP AND COMPRESSION PROCESSES FOR THE SEVERAL TYPES OF COMPRESSORS USED IN HOME REFRIGERATORS. ADDITIONALLY, THE MODELS OF THE COMPRESSOR AND HEAT EXCHANGERS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED TO ALLOW FOR THE USE OF BINARY NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES. DUE TO THE COMPLETELY ALGEBRAIC NATURE OF THE COMPONENT MODELS, THE COMPUTATION TIME IS MINIMAL AND MAY BE AUEA PC. THE SIMULATION HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AN OPTIMIZATION PROCEDURE TO SIZE REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS FOR USE WITH NEW REFRIGERANTS.
