ALTERNATIVE DUBLSORB CONCEPTS.

Author(s) : WILKINSON W. H.

Summary

THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT RESULT WHEN THE ABSORPTION CHILLER IS RECONFIGURED TO OPTIMIZE ITS COMBINATION WITH A LIQUID DESICCANT SYSTEM. A VERY SLIGHT MODIFICATION OF THE WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE WORKING FLUID IS SHOWN TO RESULT IN IMPROVEMENTS IN CYCLE PERFORMANCE THAT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FROM MODIFICATIONS OF THE ABSORPTION CYCLE ALONE. ONE CYCLE, FOR EXAMPLE, HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR OPERATING WITH A COP OF ABOUT 1.6 AT THE OPTIMUM CONDITION AND SHOULD AVERAGE ABOUT 1.5 OVER THE FULL RANGE OF SEASONAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.
