Type of article: Article

Summary

Two ammonia absorption refrigerating units with screw compressors, along with chilled water storage, meet the cooling needs of a new area of Lisbon in which the Expo'98 site is housed; the exhibition site comprises housing, offices, hospitals, a railway station, a shopping centre and hotels, etc. The solution adopted combines two networks: one using hot water at a temperature of 110 deg C and another using chilled water at a temperature of 4 deg C. Both networks are powered by a central energy production plant built around a trigeneration system.
