Summary
The Detroit, USA, city Civic Centre, Police Headquarters and library buildings are being supplied from a new energy centre using natural gas engine driven water chillers. These have replaced existing R11 electrically driven chillers and gas fired absorption chillers. The main reason for choosing gas engine drive is the reduced running cost at less than half that for electricity. D.W.H.
