AN ABSORPTION SYSTEM USING METHANOL PLUS LITHIUM AND ZINC BROMIDES FOR REFRIGERATION USING SOLAR HEAT.

Author(s) : ALLOUSH A., GOSNEY W. B.

Summary

AN ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING MACHINE WHICH MAY OPERATE BELOW 273 K (0 DEG C) WITH SOLAR PANELS WAS BUILT. METHANOL IS USED AS THE REFRIGERANT, MIXED WITH LITHIUM BROMIDE AND ZINC BROMIDE. A PARTICULAR FEATURE IS THE USE OF A BUBBLE PUMP. THE MACHINE WAS TESTED IN ORDER TO PROVIDE 300 W AT VARIOUS EVAPORATION TEMPERATURES, WITH ABSORPTION AND CONDENSATION TEMPERATURES OF 298 AND 293 K (25 AND 20 DEG C). AT AN EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE OF 271 K (-2 DEG C) AND A GENERATOR TEMPERATURE OF 343 K (70 DEG C) THE HEAT RATIO IS 0.25 AND AT 266 AND 363 K (-7 AND 90 DEG C) IT IS 0.4.
