Summary
The study examines: acreage and production of fruits and vegetables in the Indian Punjab; cold storage facilities; factors conducive to the growth of cold storage; factors constraining the growth of cold storage; future prospects for cold storage. The current cold storage capacity is much lower than actual requirements, particularly in the potato growing belt. The rent for cold storage should be periodically revised to enable cold storage owners to run their cold stores efficiently.
