Summary

The authors developed a computer-aided energy-management support system for HVAC systems. This energy-management support system provides the following types of information by analyzing the operating costs for the heat load: the optimal combination of various machines for energy savings; the optimal operating schedule for each machine; and data on heat release and storage by the thermal storage tank for the optimization of thermal capacity. The system has been installed in a large-scale building since March 1991, where it has been successfully providing information on the optimal operating schedules and optimal combination of heat generating machines. As a result, a reduction in annual operating costs of 25% has been achieved.
