Summary
Interesting improvement in performances is envisaged by applying the fixed bed adsorbers with the forced unsteady-state operation of periodic flow reversal to convective thermal wave cycle, which results in the so-called Periodic Reversal Forced Convective cycle. To describe process behaviour for this kind of cycle with seven possible operating modes of flow reversal, a two-phase, one-dimensional model for the zeolite 13X-water pair is developed. Among the seven different ways to run the system, the model selects one particular cycle allowing a significant improvement of the COP.
