An experimental assessment of the thermal diffusivity by the transfer function approach.

Summary

The transfer functions method is proposed to determine the value of the thermal diffusivity in homogeneous materials. The z-transfer function is determined experimentally by the measured values of the temperature on the boundary and in an inner point, during an arbitrary transient. The working equation that must be solved to obtain the thermal diffusivity is particularly simple and does not require any numerical iteration, but accurate temperature measurements are needed through the whole thermal history of the system to determine the z-transfer function.
