An approach to determine effective film coefficients and thermal diffusivities for solid objects cooled in a medium.

Author(s) : DINCER I., DOST S.

Summary

The study deals with the development of new analytical models for determining the film coefficients and thermal diffusivities of the solid objects, ie, infinite slab, cylinder, and sphere during cooling. The analytical models are then verified using available experimental data for a fig, a cucumber and a pear as slab, cylindrical and spherical objects. The results presented here show that the present method can be used to determine the effective film coefficients and thermal diffusivities for such solid objects.
