An experimental study on vented and non-vented fill of cryogenic vessels.

Summary

This paper presents the performance experiments of the vented and non-vented fill for 175 L cryogenic cylinders and 410 L cryogenic tanks. Pressure change, the final filling by volume and filling time are obtained as results for tests. And the effects of heat, mass transfer mechanisms, fill configuration and supply pressure on the test results have been discussed for optimization, shortening the filling time and improving the filling technologies. This paper illustrates that it is hard to accomplish 100% filling by volume through the non-vented fills and each filling process has different advantages in various engineering fields.
