Summary
Recently, with the increasing advancement and sophistication of HVAC system functions, demand has arisen for the development of a new maintenance system for HVAC systems. The authors developed an expert system with predictive fault diagnosis for HVAC systems, which diagnoses the conditions of HVAC systems by constantly monitoring data and provides a computer aided maintenance system using artificial intelligence technology. Th first such expert system has been installed in the Tokyo station building of the East Japan Railway Company as a real system, where the operating status parameters have been constantly measured and monitored. As a result of installing the system, the work load of maintenance personnel has been reduced.
