Summary

Currently, the centrifugal fan system has been used in ducted air-conditioning indoor unit, and this system has no enough advantage in heat transfer efficiency, noise control, air distribution and installation engineering. This paper adopts the CFD method to simulate the internal flow fields of ducted air-conditioning indoor unit and studies a new type flow duct of ducted air-conditioning indoor unit that took on character with cross-flow fan, air suction 6-bend heat exchanger, air intake from below etc. Compare to the same cooling capacity machine of centrifugal fan system, the new one reduced the indoor unit's sound pressure level 4-6 dB(A), enhanced EER one class and reduced the whole size especially in width direction of machine that is just half size and easy installation. And, the new machine was competitive on the market because of its lower price.
