AN OVERALL ASSESSMENT OF HEAT PUMP TECHNOLOGY FOR PROCESS APPLICATIONS.

Author(s) : HOLLAND F. A.

Summary

HIGHER DELIVERY TEMPERATURES ARE BEING ATTAINED, MORE DESIGN DATA ARE BECOMING AVAILABLE AND THE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS IS INCREASING. IN HEAT PUMP ASSISTED PROCESS SYSTEMS SUCH AS DRYING, DISTILLATION AND EVAPORATION, THE HEAT PUMP NEEDS TO BE VERY CAREFULLY MATCHED TO THE PROCESS. HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BECOME INCREASINGLY MORE ECONOMIC AS CAPITAL COSTS DECREASE ON A LEANING CURVE AND UNIT COSTS OF INPUT ENERGY INCREASE.
